707 Park Ave: Co-Housing Community in Falls Church

May 17, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

In the middle of “The Little City” of Falls Church, will sit the 707 Project, a study in modern design and sustainable living ‘co-housing’ project. These 26 condos are a small scale planned community slated to be available at market rates. What is “Co-Housing”? According to the CoHousing Collaborative:

Sometimes called “The Modern Village” these communities are organized as condominiums or Homeowners Associations. The fully equipped, privately owned homes are centered around a community building called a ‘Common House’. The Common House is considered an extension of one’s personal living space and always includes a kitchen and spacious dining room because one of the great pleasures of cohousing is preparing and sharing community dinners on a voluntary, rotating basis. The Common House also includes many amenities for community members such as a library, crafts room, sitting areas, TV room/games room, guest rooms … and more!

The four-story 707 project will include a common house and amenities at street level, a living green roof garden/patio, and parking, and will be located just blocks from the Farmer’s Market and close to both East and West Falls Church metros. Falls Church CoHousing was formed in 2009 and is targeting ground-breaking in 2011, with a 2012 move-in.
