Falls Church Neighborhoods: Culmore

January 3, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Culmore is a community of nearly 30 single-family homes built in the early 1950s. Located near the intersection of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Columbia Pike, Culmore is convenient to major commuting routes. It’s also about 2.5 miles from the East Falls Church metro station.

With a walk score of 52, Culmore is considered “somewhat walkable.” More than a dozen restaurants are within a mile of residents’ front doors, including local favorites Dogfish Head and Pho Tay Ho. Nearly a dozen grocery stores are also within a mile of Culmore, as are four coffee shops for when you need a quick pick-me-up.

Currently no homes are actively listed for sale in Culmore, according to MRIS, our local MLS. One home is currently under contract. It’s a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath rambler listed for $320,000. It’s a short sale and was on the market for just one day before going under contract.

In the past year, no homes have sold in the neighborhood. We have to go back to January 2010 to find the last home that sold in Culmore. It was also a rambler with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It sat on the market for 174 days before selling for $425,000. It was not a short sale or foreclosure.
