Falls Church Neighborhoods: Fallsmere

June 15, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Fallsmere is a community of about 30 single-family homes (mostly colonials and split-levels with exteriors of brick and siding) built in the early 1980s. Located just off Virginia Lane at the intersection with Shreve Road, Fallsmere is convenient to major commuting routes, such as I-66 and the Beltway. It’s also just over one mile from the Dunn Loring/Merrifield station, making it a popular destination for users of mass transit.

Fallsmere earns a walk score of 25, or car dependent. However, it is less than a mile from the local favorite, Idylwood Grill. Idylwood Park and the W&OD trail are also nearby for residents’ enjoyment.

Currently, just one home is actively listed for sale in MRIS, our local MLS. It’s a four-bedroom, three-bath split-level that has an asking price of $649,500 and has been on the market for 66 days.

No homes are currently under contract in Fallsmere.

The neighborhood is popular, and once people move in, they tend to stay. No homes have changed hands in the past year, according to MRIS, and in 2010, just one home sold. It was a four-bed, 3.5-bath colonial that sold for $680,000 and sat on the market for 94 days before selling.
