Falls Church Neighborhoods: Lakewood

August 2, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Lakewood is a community of more than 40 single-family homes built in the late 1940s and ’50s. Located near popular Lake Barcroft, Lakewood is convenient to Columbia Pike and is about three miles from the East Falls Church metro station.

With a walk score of 46, Lakewood is considered “car dependent.” However, the neighborhood is within two miles of over two dozen restaurants, including local favorite Moe’s Southwest Grill. Seven parks are also within two miles of residents’ front doors.

Currently, just one home is actively listed for sale in Lakewood, according to MRIS, our local MLS. It is a three-bed, one-bath colonial listed for $389,000. The house is not a short sale or foreclosure, and has been on the market for 44 days.

In the past year, just two homes have changed hands in Lakewood, and both were ramblers. One was a four-bed, two-bath home with 1,152 square feet of living space. It was a foreclosure and was on the market for just five days before selling. It sold for $355,000 with no seller subsidy. The other house had three bedrooms, three full baths, and 1,197 square feet of living space. It sat for just 15 days before going under contract, and had a sales price of $535,000 with a $3,500 seller subsidy.
