Falls Church Neighborhoods: Alola

January 17, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Alola is a small community of about a dozen single-family homes. The earliest home was built in 1940, and homes have been added throughout the years, with the newest home being built in 1999. Located near the intersection of Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) and Annandale Road, Alola is convenient to major commuting routes, such as I-66, the Beltway, and the Dulles Toll Road. It’s also about two miles from the East Falls Church metro station.

With a walk score of 55, Alola is considered “somewhat walkable.” Nearly a dozen restaurants are within a half mile of residents’ front doors, including local favorites Frozen Dairy Bar & Boardwalk Pizza and La Granja De Oro. Nearly a dozen grocery stores are within about a mile from the neighborhood, as are at least a half dozen coffee shops for when you need that extra jolt to get you moving.

Currently, one home is actively listed for sale in Alola. It’s a three-bed, one-bath remodeled rambler. The home has been on the market for 18 days with an asking price of $349,900. It is not a short sale or foreclosure.

No homes are currently under contract in Alola.

In the past year, just one home has changed hands in Alola. It had two bedrooms and one bath, and was built in 1966. It sat on the market for 32 days before selling for $245,000. It was not a short sale or foreclosure, but was in need of some renovations.
